The Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier is proud to announce that Mardi Gras to Mistletoe has received a national Tabasco Award. The cookbook was launched in 2006 by the League as the third installment in a tradition of cookbooks. It was recognized as the 2nd place winner at the 18th annual Tabasco Cookbook Community Awards. The award recognized that “This cookbook of festive favorites has a strong sense of community and pays tribute to the traditions and festivals celebrated by the people of Northwest Louisiana.” In addition to the great recipes and the unique format of the book, the Tabasco judges also complimented the photography by Neil Johnson noting that “Photographs throughout the book capture not only the dishes, but shots of scenic Shreveport-Bossier and celebrated homes as well.” Tabasco officials continued praise of the cookbook with, “Mardi Gras to Mistletoe invites readers to experience the deep roots of Northwest Louisiana – a journey that all are sure to find captivating.” The book can be purchased by calling the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier at 318-221-6144.
